Duquesne-Niagara mens basketball


Transfer Shawn James is making quite the impact in his first season with the Duquesne Dukes. Against Niagara today he rejected seven shots after swatting away 12 in the Dukes previous game. He has 29 total on the young season helping the Dukes to a 5-0 start following today's 76-65 win.

WPIAL AAAA Football Championship







This was by far the best game of the four championships this day. Central was in full control of the game when Gateway put on a furious comeback forcing the game into overtime. The difference was a botched extra point attempt by the Gators which gave the Vikings the AAAA championship when they scored a TD and made their own XPA.

Pitt-Mississippi Valley State

National Adoption Day


George Austin and his wife, already the parents and grandparents of 17, found enough love in their hearts to adopt 5-year Omari. Omari had been living with the Austins for 3 years as a foster child. He came to the North Versailles family with half of his body in a cast, the victim of abuse. On this, National Adoption Day, the Austins and almost a dozen other family members came to the courtroom of Judge Kim Clark to finalize the adoption process of Omari. Afterwards the family held a large party to celebrate the day.

NCAA Division 3 playoffs-W&J-N.C. Wesleyan


Washington and Jefferson kicker Chuck Grabner tries to pick himself up after being tackle and his fake field goal attempt fails in overtime as the Presidents lose to North Carolina Wesleyan in the NCAA Division 3 first round playoffs. W & J head coach Mike Sirianni chose to go for two after seeing Grabner get two kicks blocked earlier in the game. The lost ends the Presidents 2007 season with a 10-1 record.
